Dogtopia Dog Wash

Dogtopia Dog Wash

Taking pictures of dogs getting baths (or tubbies as my pups know them), is one of the most fun and entertaining things to me. They are drenched and so goofy looking but still have a smile on their faces! So when I was asked to photograph the annual K9 Support Dog Wash for Dogtopia of Charlotte, I jumped on it!

This year's event raised money for Paws With a Cause - an organization that...(click on the image above to continue reading)

Graeme

Graeme

So my dream when I die would be to come back as this pup right here. Graeme was adopted from the Humane Society of Charlotte by a seriously sweet couple from England. I imagined him (over the years) picking up on their English accent and using that voice as he ushered me in his house, showed me around his lovely pool, and spoke to me in that way that dogs do. To me, he's so prime and proper but, in reality, he likes to... (click on the image above to continue reading)

Murphy

Murphy

A fluffy, goofy, energetic ball of fur. Yup. That about sums up Murphy, a sweet little rescue that was found matted, sick, and heartworm positive. He was nursed back to health by some wonderful vets and placed in a home full of love, treats, and lots of toys. And per Murphy, they better be cloth or fabric toys...non of that rubber nonsense. Haha!

For our shoot, we hung out in his domain...a nice fenced-in yard where he is...(click on the image above to continue reading)

Eva and Sadie - May Flowers

Eva and Sadie - May Flowers

A few weeks ago, my dogs were restless and needed a nice break from their normal stomping grounds. I felt the same way. Plus, I needed to make sure the location I selected for a commercial shoot was looking nice and spring-like.

We hopped in the car and went to one of my favorite shooting locations (I often recommend this secret place to my clients). As we walked to my favorite field, we turned the corner and I was almost blinded by...(click on the image above to continue reading)

Jehossee and Bullet

Jehossee and Bullet

Horses are majestic creatures and I wish I had the opportunity to work with them more. Because I didn't grow up around them, I honestly do still get a little intimidated by their size and strength. But then I see their personalities shine through and I'm reminded that they are like any of our smaller furry pets. They just want love, affection, and treats! ;)

Jehosse and Bullet's session was rained out the first go-round, but then coincidentally got rescheduled to Derby Day. How fitting! It ended up being... (click on the image above to continue reading)

Spaghetti

Spaghetti

What is the first word that enters your mind when you hear, "1-year-old Chocolate Lab puppy"?

Well, if you're me, it's FUN!!!!!

Then what do you do when you find out her name is Spaghetti?!?

Ummmm...head explosion!

That's about what happened to me when Spaghetti's session was officially booked! It was really happening! That day seriously couldn't come fast enough... (click on the image above to continue reading)

Mac

Mac

Before I even started Mac's session, I knew there was a special story behind this dog. As I questioned his parents, this amazing tale of a bond between dad and dog came to life in front of me. I think I was staring with my jaw hanging low in awe of the relationship. I am certainly not a writer but it would be a shame not to try to share this story.

It all started 9 years ago when this family was looking for a canine companion. They were trying to go with a local Poodle rescue but... (click on the image above to continue reading)

Jimmy

Jimmy

Jimmy's story is one of survival, love, heartbreak, and triumph.

Just before Labor Day 2014, Jimmy started having trouble with his leg. Having thought it might be a sprain, his parents took him over to their vet. They were quickly sent off to a specialist for x-rays. Doubts and questions started to form because why would they be sent to a specialist for a little sprain?

Well it turns out the vet made the right call. The specialist found that... (click on the image above to continue reading)
